If you are an accountant¶
You read what the trading day produced, and check it hangs together.
Where the day ends up¶
- Day Book, Journal and Ledger — three views of the same postings, which one answers your question, and how to read an empty register.
Two different closes¶
- Close the day — the operational close a manager signs for a trading day. It is not the accounting period lock, and confusing the two causes a lot of avoidable argument.
Your Overview looks different¶
- Reading your Overview — the accountant view is accounting-shaped, and two of its cards say plainly that they are not built yet.
The rest of the job¶
Chart of accounts, purchases and AP, statements, reconciliation and period close each have their own page. Documentation for this is still being prepared.
