Outlets

An outlet is one location that trades. Most restaurants have one; some have several under a single business.

Why outlets exist even when you only have one

Almost every figure in KJB belongs to an outlet. Sales, drawers, day closes, stock — they are all recorded against the place they happened. With one outlet you never notice; the moment there are two, it is what stops the two restaurants' takings becoming one confusing number.

The register, and the settings

This screen is the register — which outlets exist, their names, and whether each is active. A location you stop trading from is suspended rather than removed, because its history stays attached to it.

How an outlet behaves is set elsewhere. Its cash policy, document type and business-day cut-over are outlet settings, and the screen points you at Setup for them — including which of them are applied today. See Outlet settings.

Brand and outlet

Some settings are held once for the brand and shared by every outlet, and an outlet can either inherit or differ. Where you see Inherited from Brand on a setting, that is deliberate sharing rather than something unfilled. See GST and tax settings.
