My shift

Your own working session: when you started, the drawer you are responsible for, and what has gone through it.

What it shows you

Your shift — running, closing or closed, and when it started.

Your drawer — which one you hold, and what KJB expects to be in it.

Your session sales — what has gone through you, broken down by cash, card, online or UPI, and on account. The screen labels this as reference only, and that wording is doing real work: it is what you have taken, not an instruction about what to count.

Counting, and being counted

Count what is actually there, not what the screen expects. The expected figure is shown so a difference is visible — if you count to match it, the difference disappears and so does the point of counting.

A shortfall or a surplus is information. It gets reviewed by someone else, which is why declaring and accepting are separate steps.

Handing over

If someone takes over mid-service, hand the shift over rather than closing it. The drawer carries on with a new person responsible for it, and the handover records where one person's accountability ends and the next begins.

Closing is for when the drawer is finished with, not for when you are.

Why your shift matters at the end of the day

Open shifts and undeclared drawers are both on the day-close checklist, so a shift left running holds up the whole restaurant's close. See Close the day.
