Audit trail and exports¶
Who did what in the books, and getting the figures out to your accounting software.
The audit trail¶
A record of accounting events — period locks among them — which you can filter down to what you are looking for. When a filter matches nothing, the screen says so rather than showing an empty table.
This is what answers "who locked this period, and when?" — a question that tends to arrive at an awkward moment, which is the reason the trail is kept before anyone needs it.
Exports¶
Figures leave Books as a file you take into your accounting software.
Exports are one-way. The screen states the rule: Books is upstream, and tools like Tally or Zoho are downstream. Nothing done in that software returns to KJB.
That shapes where you correct things. If a figure is wrong and you fix it downstream, your accounts are right and KJB is still wrong — and the next export carries the error out again. The correction belongs here.
