Staff records

Manage ▸ People is where the people who work for you are recorded — who they are, when they are meant to be working, and whether they turned up.

Being staff and being a user are two different things

A staff record is a person who works here: their name, contact details, their role in the restaurant, and whether they are currently active.

A user account is a way to sign in to KJB.

They are related but not the same, and the screens are separate. Manage ▸ People handles the person; what they are allowed to do once signed in is a permissions question — the People screen points you at Setup for that rather than duplicating it. See Who can do what.

Signing in on the floor

Staff who work a till or a floor device can be given a PIN, which is how someone identifies themselves quickly mid-service without typing a password on a shared screen.

Planned shifts and attendance

A planned shift is a roster entry — when someone is expected to work. It is a plan, made in advance.

Attendance is what happened. The two are deliberately separate, because the gap between them is the thing worth looking at.

You need staff before you can roster them. The screen says so plainly if you try it the other way round: add staff on the Staff tab first.

Deactivating rather than deleting

Someone who leaves is deactivated. Their record stays, because it is attached to shifts they worked and orders they took, and removing it would leave those without an owner.
